Sealcoating & Crack Filling
Sealcoating and Crack Filling are integral parts of pavement preservation. With time, a paved surface will crack and break apart from normal wear and tear revealing the base materials which are susceptible to washing and eroding away with the weather. When this happens, the asphalt layer breaks apart further leading to a vicious cycle of asphalt degradation.
Sealcoating is the process of sealing a paved surface with a layer of liquid asphalt and gravel. The layers are worked together with machinery that bonds this new protective layer to the existing pavement, filling the cracks and exposed areas.
Crack Filling is a more focused process where liquid asphalt fillers are applied directly to cracks that have formed on newer asphalt. The results are similar in where the crack is sealed allowing the surrounding asphalt to be protected from the degradation cycle.
